This spectacularly coloured
snake is Ish Pasty, a CORN
SNAKE. Corn snakes live mainly in the
southern and eastern USA and are especially common
in the Florida area. Over many years they have
become the most commonly kept and bred pet snake in
both the UK and USA and they now come in a huge
variety of colours and patterns.

Ish Pasty is known as an
amelanistic corn snake because he lacks the
black pigment melanin, which is why he has pink eyes
rather than the normal black eyes and why his orange
and red pattern is so brightly coloured. Most
of the wild corn snakes in the USA do not look like
Ish Pasty because they do not lack this pigment.
They would instead look like another corn snake
which I used to have in my collection named Cob, who
had the 'normal' wild colouration and black eyes and
was equally as beautiful as Ish Pasty as I'm sure
you'll agree!
