I have the happiest news to
report of another new arrival in my household this
week, and this is by far my most important news of
the year! My wife gave birth to our daughter
Kaitlyn in the early hours of the morning on
Christmas eve, making her easily the best Christmas
present we have ever received! She weighed in
at half an ounce over 7 lbs and is absolutely
beautiful as you can see below!

I would
like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank
you to my many customers old and new who sent well
wishes and messages before her arrival and who asked
me to inform them when the big day finally arrived!
I hope you all enjoy the pictures and a Happy New
Year to everybody who visits my website, I will
look forward to seeing you in 2008!

Just a week ago I acquired
an adult speckled king
snake, which is easily my absolute favourite
species of snake that I have ever kept and one which
I have been trying to find again for a long time!
I have waited until now to add photographs of her to
my website as she was preparing to shed her skin
when I bought her, meaning that her skin looked very
cloudy and dull, but last night she shed her skin
and now looks absolutely fantastic as you can see
below!

Very exciting news today as
the day gecko egg pictured in the earlier news item
dated 9th November 2007 has hatched after just 38
days in my incubator!

The baby is absolutely
beautiful as you can see above but in these
pictures, which were taken just a few hours after
hatching, the gecko is half way through its
post-hatch skin shedding and so does not look as
brightly coloured all over its body as it will once
it has finished. Because reptiles tend to shed
their skin starting from the head, as this gecko has
done, you can see that the baby gecko's head and
front legs are a much brighter shade of green than
the rest of the body which still has the old outer
skin covering it, making it appear duller. I
am delighted with this new arrival as it was the
first egg laid by my day geckos and this is the
first time in ten years I have had a day gecko hatch
in my collection, having taken a long break from
keeping them!
